My dear Host Family

From the very start I should say that it is not an easy thing to speak about myself. I think that I’m even-tempered, calm and modest. I like my friends, I like to laugh and joke. I have got a sense of humour. It means I understand humour and appreciate it.

There are many things in our life I like and some ones I dislike. I like when everything is ok. Being happy is one way of being wise. I like to study because knowledge is useful. I’m fond of reading as it gives not only knowledge, but also wonderful moments of joy and pleasure.

I was born and live in Oleksandrivka. It is a small town situated in the center of Ukraine. It’s a very nice town and people there are friendly and cheerful.

My family is not large. I have a mother, a father and a sister. There are four of us in the family.

First of all let me tell you a few words about my parents. My mother’s name is Raisa Oleksandrivna. She works at the sugar plant. She likes her profession. She is fifty but looks younger. My father’s name is Mykola Vasylovych. He is 49. My father often plays chess and when we are at home and have some free time we play chess together.

My parents have been married for 24 years. They have much in common, but they have different views on music, books and films.

And my sister’s name is Alyona, she is 25, and she is married. Now she lives in Kirovohrad, which is 50 km from Oleksandrivka.

When I was a little girl I liked to spend a lot of time with my friends. I went to school when I was 6. Later I went to music school. I played the violin. I studied for seven years there.

After finishing school I entered the university, the Faculty of Psychology. The last four years I worked at the summer camp with children. And now I work at school. I like children. Working with children can be a rewarding work, helping them develop and grow confidence. It requires skills and qualification as well as enthusiastic workforce to ensure that all children receive a good start in life.

I love children and it seems to me I have always been surrounded by them. Starting with the 2^nd course each summer I worked at children’s summer camp. We played together, read tales and sang songs.

I am always very busy. There are a lot of opportunities of spending my free time. When I have some free time I go to the cinema, museums, concert hall or participate in one of our musical projects. I like to sing and dance. I am fond of music of the 60s; I like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and classic music. Besides, I am a great theatergoer. Whenever I have some time I go to the theatre. I am not keen on television. Sometimes I play different sport games for health and pleasure, such as volleyball, basketball and tennis.

Of course, like most girls, I have experience in housekeeping. I always keep my house clean and tidy. I usually look after the house, cherish my animals, and look after the flowers with pleasure.

In addition, I like to cook simple meals and assist in preparing more complex dishes. Of course, cleaning up after myself is one of the rules of a lady with good housekeeping skills, which I also follow.

I think the Au Pair Program offers a great opportunity to young people to get experience in childcare and to explore the world. That’s why I decided to apply for an Au Pair. I love children and it is interesting for me to work with them.

I like Scandinavia. I would like to know more about the culture and traditions. When I learned about this program, I immediately understood that Au Pair is what I need. Working as an au pair enables me to gain experience abroad, improve my language skills, and explore the country, and also to get to know people, natives of Scandinavia. So my life experience and interests are very well suited to this program. All I mentioned above is the main motivation for my travel.
