Dear Host Family:
I am excited not only about the possibility of participating in the Au-Pair in Norway program for a number of reasons but also for the possibility of providing loving care for your child or children. It will be a great opportunity to improve my speaking and comprehension of the English language. For the past number of years I have been interested in learning the English language to for a greater extent than what is available in Ukraine. I want to speak English fluently and the program will help me achieve this goal. The challenge of living abroad in a family setting will allow me to learn more about the culture and tradition of Norway together with allowing me the opportunity to share my culture and traditions with an Norway family. Participation in the au pair program presents a wonderful opportunity to make new friends. My desire is that friends made through the program will prove to be life-long friendships, including the family or families that I will be involved with. It will allow me to get additional experience in working with children, something I enjoy doing. However my future plans unfold, I feel that in some way I will be involved with children or younger youth. I look forward to gaining all the experience that I can and this program offers me this opportunity with an Norway family. I am one of two children with an older sister being 27 years of age. Home and family life for me is and has been very satisfying and rewarding. My father and mother have always tried to give us a wonderful and loving atmosphere in which to grow as individuals as well as appreciate and care for one another. My parents have taught me to interact with other people and develop a strong sense of loyalty to both family and friends. I also have two nephews, 1.5 and 2.5 years old who I used to look after. I have worked with various age groups in a variety of settings including state orphanages, day camps, as well as classroom settings. This involvement included: -Planned, organized, and supervised various activities -Organizing special events parties -Feeding and general care of the children In May of 2009, I graduated from Lviv Theological Seminary with the Certificate in teacher of Christian Ethics. The school also had a Social Outreach program geared to requirements in practicum. Part of my studies in this program included courses of study in the psychology of child care, meeting the needs of children, creative curriculum planning, together with a minimum of 200 hours of practicum in state orphanages. These courses and practical experience have given me valuable insights into working and dealing with children of various ages. I learned that a loving, compassionate and patient attitude wins children over. During the summer months, I was involved with vacation day camps for children ages 8-15 years in various regions of Ukraine. Here I learned the importance of keeping children occupied with a variety of activities. I quickly discovered that children are the same no matter where you go. They enjoy participating, being treated with respect, being loved no matter what their individual circumstances might be. I am, by nature, a friendly outgoing person. I enjoy spending time with my friends, reading, singing, travelling. I love music and play the guitar a little. My favorite sports are running and swimming. For the past five years I have been actively involved in seminary youth group in music, speaking to youth on various themes, as well as preparing drama skits for the youth. My goal is to work with children and or youth either in Ukraine or abroad. The experience I will gain by being involved in the au Pair program will be very beneficial to me. I am confident that I can meet the expectations of a family in Norway looking for a person that will apply themselves to the task of caring for their children in a responsible, creative and loving way.
