I’d
like to start my letter to you with introducing myself. My name is Valeriya. I’m
28 years old. I was born and live in Cherkasy. My town is one of the most
picturesque towns in Ukraine. We have many
green zones and 2 parks where I like to spend time with my friends.
I’m
live with my mother. Her name is Lyudmila. Now she is retired and she takes
care of our house. I always help her and she is the one whom I have inherited
my cooking and household skills from.I
understand and I know from my own experience that it’s a great responsibility
to work with children. But it’s also very interesting. In the years 1997-2002 I
was an active volunteer in Youth Social Service Center, Cherkasy. I
participated and directed various campaigns and events. With the obtained
experience I was a part of a small team that founded an NGO (non-governmental
organization) “Scout League”. It was a new level in my social work. We
organized games, boot-camps, seminars and trips to summer camps. I liked this
time very much. I was a scout leader, in my group there were children 9-14
years of age. We spent a lot of time together. We traveled, met other scouts
from different towns and even countries.
I like to travel and to meet new people. I
also like to swim. I go to the swimming pool 4 times a week. I enjoy playing
different games, reading and drawing. My favorite music is R&B, pop, rock
(Maroon5, U2, Avril Lavigne, Timbaland). My favorite TV shows are “Friends”,
“House MD”, “Pretender”, “CSI”, “Gilmore Girls”, “One-Tree Hill”.
As
for my experience in child-care, I would like to say that I looked after a girl
Sophia (2,11 years old) and sisters: Elizabeth (2,5 years old) and Victoria (7 years old). I looked after
Sophia since her birth. I spend with her 6-8 hours per week. We often went for
a walk and played in sandbox. Now I’m teaching her to read, she likes
fairytales very much. As for sisters: I spend with them 10-15 hours per week
during the last 4 months. I helped Victoria with her homework:
Reading, Arts, Math, Writing
and English. As for Elizabeth, she likes to draw
and play. I played with them and read books for them. Spending time with
children is very interesting, because you not only teach them, but they are
also teaching you.
I
wish to become an au pair because I like children and want to improve my
English skills and develop my child-care experience. I would like to learn more
about your country and its culture. I am also motivated by the chance to learn
a foreign language, meet new people and make new friends. I would be happy to
become a part of your family.
